During his time on Michel Drucker’s legendary red sofa, Jarry notably spoke of the role played by his mother in the acceptance of his sexual orientation.
Jarry on his coming out: “We are afraid that our parents will throw us into the street”
“When I discovered my homosexuality, I went to see a doctor, I told him: ‘Okay, there’s a problem’. My three brothers are a hunter, a winemaker, a footballer, all I dream of is dying on stage in slow motion.”first emphasized the comedian, who had even asked his doctor if there was a “medication against homosexuality”. Jarry then had a tender thought for the one who gave birth to him. “She’s the one who saved my life because I think she saw very early on that I was a little different child from my brothers. And she said to herself: ‘You have to both leave him free and at the same time I must protect him'”specified the host of France 2. “I was so afraid to come out because we’re afraid our parents will throw us out on the street. When I told her while she was watching TV and she said to me: ‘Oh well, at work, it’s with them that I get along best!’. It was a way of saying to myself: ‘I’ve known it since you were born'”, Jarry then explained about his mother. The actor finally concluded by declaring, with a smile on his lips: “I was lucky to be accepted in my family as I am and that is priceless.”
