I will go after my dreams: is the film inspired by a true story?

This Tuesday, September 13, M6 unveils the film I will go to the end of my dreams with Camille Lou and Samuel Allain Abitbol which tells the story of a young adult with Down’s syndrome. Is it inspired by a true story? Answer.

After the poignant and sublime Learn to love yourselfdirector Stéphanie Pillonca immerses us once again in the touching story of a person with trisomy 21. This Tuesday, September 13, M6 broadcasts the unit film I will go after my dreams, worn by Camille Lou and Samuel Allain Abitbol. This traces the career of Antoine, a 25-year-old who works as an assistant librarian in the CDI of a college. Antoine leads a well-regulated life, until he meets Bianca, a young supervisor who secretly dreams of becoming a singer. A meeting that will change their destiny. But Is this story based on a true story? Yes and no.

Originally, M6 had proposed to the director to design a sequel to Learn to love yourself. “But I didn’t want“, she admits to us. What Stéphanie Pillonca wanted was to tell the story of someone older. An idea thatdidn’t get out of my head” but which was built thanks to his meeting and his professional love at first sight for Samuel Allain Abitbol as well as via testimonials. “We really did it with associations and families of children with trisomy 21“, she explains to us. After the overwhelming Learn to love yourself, associations have indeed told him that it was just as important to talk about adults carrying this additional gene. “Because true inclusion is giving them this rightful place in our lives“, recalls Stéphanie Pillonca. She therefore went to meet several families who reported to heranecdotes, testimonials” that she distilled over her TV movie.

Stéphanie Pillonca: “Camille Lou and Samuel Allain Abitbol were made to meet”

It’s tinged with true stories and anecdotes“, adds Stéphanie Pillonca. And to conclude: “I wanted to tell the life of this young man like no other who will be a facilitator, an accelerator of life for all. And especially for him.“For this unitary, the main role was therefore written for Samuel Allain Abitbol. What about the role of Bianca? The evidence was the same when she discovered Camille Lou during a video posted on her Instagram account”in 2018 or 2019“. When they met, Stéphanie Pillonca was charmed by Camille Lou, “his immense heart, his incredible physique, his voice, his emotion. Its two main actors were therefore chosen. “They were made to meet. It was just obvious. It was them”still marvels Stéphanie Pillonca.
