“I would accept without hesitation”: for which film Chuck Norris would come out of retirement at 83?

Chuck Norris back on our screens? The legendary actor would indeed be ready to come out of retirement for a sequel to this particular film…

Cannon Group

As Espinof reports (via Comicbook), it was during his recent visit to Nashville Comic-Con that the Walker, Texas Ranger star made this startling revelation! Asked about what he thought was the most underrated film of his career – the action comedy Sidekicks according to the ComicBook reporter conducting the interview – the actor appreciated the reference, revealing that he would be leaving for a sequel:

I agree, Sidekicks is one of my movies that holds a special place in my heart and if ever I was offered a sequel, I would absolutely accept the offer. It is a film that inspires hope and courage, especially in young people.

Released in 1992, sidekicks could be described as Chuck Norris’ attempt to create his own Karate Kid. In the film, he played himself and was accompanied by young Jonathan Brandis who played Barry Gabewsky, a bullied teenager who dreams of being Chuck Norris’ sidekick and trains in martial arts to achieve his dreams.

A PERSONAL PROJECT THAT WAS NOT UNANIMOUS

Although the film debuted at the second step of the podium at the box office, it nevertheless only brought in $17.18 million and was hit hard by critics: a sequel was therefore not an option – and a reunion “à la Cobra Kai” for the nostalgic either, Jonathan Brandis having unfortunately committed suicide in 2003.

sidekicks was a very personal project for Chuck Norris who himself conceived, produced and financed the film with his friend, Jim McIngvale, owner of a furniture store. The film was also directed by his brother, Aaron Norris. In any case, if a sequel was envisaged, the actor would be on board: on good terms…

While waiting to perhaps see him again on screen one day, fans of Chuck Norris can console themselves with… his voice! Indeed, this year, he voiced a character in the video game Crime Boss: Rockay City.

Otherwise, find the cult actor in his latest film project, Expandables 2 (2012), or in his last role on the small screen, that of a sergeant in an episode of Hawaii Five-0 broadcast in 2020.
