IAEA chief next week in Moscow and Kyiv

VIENNA (Reuters) – Rafel Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will visit Moscow and Kyiv next week, the UN body said.

“Director General Grossi is continuing his consultations and efforts to find common ground and establish a safety and security zone around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. He is due to visit Kyiv and Moscow next week. , the IAEA said in a statement.

The Zaporijjia power plant has become one of the key issues in the conflict in Ukraine, with Kyiv and Moscow accusing each other of bombing the site at the risk of triggering a nuclear disaster. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has called for the site, which is operated by Ukrainians, to be made a demilitarized zone.

The IAEA on Saturday confirmed the arrest of Igor Murachov, the director of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant.
