(Boursier.com) — Iberia plans to cut up to 10% of its workforce. The restructuring plan, which is being discussed with the unions, would mainly target voluntary departures for workers aged 60 or over, according to a statement from the Spanish company to ‘Bloomberg News’. This represents 1,500 employees out of approximately 15,000 in the whole of the Iberian company. The carrier, which is owned by International Consolidated Airlines Group (AGI), retained all of its staff during the pandemic and faced no shortages when travel resumed. Iberia clarifies that this plan will not affect all areas “in the same way”, because “organizational needs are different”. According to Spanish law, a prior agreement between the employer and the unions must be reached before the group can detail its measures.
