IAMGOLD: Rosebel management maintains exchanges with university students

Rosebel management maintains exchanges with university students

Local hiring is a priority for IAMGOLD. We have plans in place at all locations where we operate to identify, create and maximize employment opportunities for local people. As part of this commitment, we invite university and college students to consider IAMGOLD as an employer of choice and the mining industry as an industry in which to work.

Last term, in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, the team in Rosebel, Suriname met with students from the Public Administration program at Anton De Kom University of Suriname. During this interactive activity, Rosebel’s General Manager, Michiel Fleischeuer, and Director, Community Relations, Jerry Finisie, presented the activities of the Rosebel mine to the students. They also shared their own experience with them and gave them career advancement advice. Jerry, who is himself a graduate of this program, spoke about the training he received during this program and its applicability to the business world. Michiel, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities to gain work experience. Everyone present found this activity invigorating.

IAMGOLD, which is one of the largest private employers in Suriname and Burkina Faso, is aware of the considerable benefits it brings to its host communities. Hiring locally is one.
