Ice-cold water – Those who fell were in danger of dying in the moated castle

Why was a 50-year-old lying in a moated castle in Ebensee? This has not yet been fully clarified – in any case, the victim’s life was in acute danger when his increasingly quiet cries for help were finally heard.

Early on a sunny Thursday afternoon, an earwitness heard cries for help coming from the moated castle in front of the offshore power plant. Three fire departments and the water rescue service were alerted. They discovered a man in the ice-cold water of the feeder stream who was able to hold on with the last of his strength. The 50-year-old had fallen for reasons that were still unclear and was apparently already severely hypothermic when he was finally discovered. A water rescuer and firefighters were able to rescue the exhausted man from the ice-cold water. He was taken to the hospital and is out of danger.
