Idris Elba is considered by fans to be one of the favorites for the James Bond successor. Now it is speculated that he will become the villain instead.

Even if the new “James Bond 007: No Time to Die” is a huge success at the box office, Daniel Craig (53) will no longer play the role in the future. There is a lot of discussion about who could be his successor. Countless names have made the rounds in recent months, including Idris Elba (49). But the “Luther” star could take on a completely different role in a new Bond film.

As reported by “The Sun”, Elba is said to be in talks with the makers about a villain role. “He’s been told there’s a role for him in the next Bond film if he wants it,” a British tabloid insider told the British tabloid. “You want to work with him on your very own character for the next part.” The talks are just beginning, but so far it looks like it will be the role of a villain, the source said. The counterpart of the 007 agent had recently played Rami Malek (40).

“Luther” film in progress

Elba is currently working on a film version of the BBC series “Luther”. About a year ago it became known that there would be no sixth season of the popular production (2010-2019) with him in the title role of Detective Chief Inspector John Luther.
