“Hijack”, the second: Apple TV+ has commissioned another season of the thriller series with Idris Elba, 51. The streaming service announced this on Tuesday. The Emmy nominee will once again serve as lead actor and executive producer. The series creators George Kay (“Lupin”) and Jim Field Smith (44, “Criminal”) are also on board again.

Elba was overwhelmed by “the incredible audience response after the first season,” says the press release. And further: “It is top secret what situation Sam Nelson will find himself in this time, but I can assure you that we will keep the tension high again.”

First season: excitement in real time

In the first season of the British miniseries, Elba played professional negotiator Sam Nelson, who uses his negotiating skills to try to stop a plane hijacking. A special highlight of the seven episodes was the real-time storytelling.

According to Apple TV+, the series was one of the streaming provider’s top titles. “Global audiences loved Idris’ captivating performance in ‘Hijack,’ and we’re thrilled to be working with 60Forty and Idiotlamp again on an equally compelling second season,” said Jay Hunt, Creative Director, Europe for Apple TV+ Press release quoted.
