“If the French choose Marine Le Pen”, they opt for “a Europe in pieces”

By electing Marine Le Pen, would the French choose to leave Europe? Clément Beaune, Secretary of State in charge of European Affairs, is convinced of this, it is “a project which very quickly risks taking us out of the European Union”. He was the guest of the Grand rendez-vous Europe 1/CNews/The echoes Sunday. According to him, it is “possible to make this choice”, as “the British chose Brexit”. But Emmanuel Macron’s support for the presidential election explains that the desire for a “Frexit”, that is France’s exit from the European Union, is not clearly displayed by the candidate of the National Rally.

Beaune asks for transparency

“It’s a Europe in pieces that she sells to us”, according to him, “because she thought it was indigestible to swallow at once, so she broke it into small pieces”. And the Secretary of State explained: “When you say: ‘We are going to lower the French contribution to the budget of the European Union by five billion euros, (…) when you say French law will take precedence over the European law…”, this implies an exit from the France of the Twenty-Seven.

For him, Marine Le Pen has two possibilities. “Either she has allies (…), or she acts alone”, and in the latter case, “it’s called Brexit”: “It’s a possibility, but you just have to say it honestly”, asserts he.
