If there is a general obligation to vaccinate: BDA rejects controls by employers

BDA rejects controls by employers

The facility-related compulsory vaccination alone is causing an uproar in Germany. With a general obligation to vaccinate, it is unlikely to get any better. The employers’ association BDA sees the government as having an obligation and emphasizes: “The state must not transfer its control obligations to third parties.”

In the event of the introduction of a general obligation to vaccinate, the employers’ association BDA is blocking the employers’ control of employees. “The state must not transfer its control obligations to third parties,” said BDA general manager Steffen Kampeter of the “Rheinische Post”. A vaccination requirement must be “unbureaucratic and practicable”, regardless of whether it is general or only applies to certain facilities.

“It is important for employees and employers to have clear, plannable and reliable specifications,” Kampeter continued. For example, the establishment of a vaccination register could contribute to the verifiability of vaccinations.

At the same time, Kampeter generally advocated vaccinations in the fight against the corona pandemic: Vaccination helps, “even in anticipation of the coming late autumn and winter”, to avoid drastic restrictions on economic and social life.

So far there are no complete draft laws for compulsory vaccination, but that would be a prerequisite for a first reading in the Bundestag. The decision on a law on general vaccination could therefore be postponed, originally it was to be discussed in the coming week.
