Guest for the Great Europe 1- Cnews interview, the socialist deputy Jérôme Guedj believes that the elimination of state medical aid (AME) in order to save money would be counterproductive: “If we eliminate medical aid state, there will be additional expenses,” he says.

The MP recalls that the AME recalls that the AME represents 0.3% of health insurance expenditure. “We spend 200 billion on health insurance and there is less than a billion on state medical aid. So that’s not the subject.”

“The State has become self-impoverished”

Countries like Spain only offer an MEA when the person’s life is threatened. For the MP, such a measure would be ineffective: “So, we should tell people who are present in the territory to stay with an illness, that it is getting worse, and when it threatens your health, then you will go to the hospital and it will cost a lot more.”

He believes that the abolition of the AME is a “red rag which is not commensurate with the situation. “The social security budget, 700 billion, and the budget for social security will soon be presented. State, 400 billion. We cannot say that everything is the fault of foreigners. This is not true,” he continues.

According to the MP, the problem lies rather in the elimination of “50 billion in tax revenue which has been reduced and eliminated. The State has become self-impoverished. It is then easy to say ‘I no longer have any “money so I’m going to fight in the hospital, in the school, in the justice system, in the police, in the public services”, he concludes.
