If you have a car, the next visit to the garage may cost you more

Owning a vehicle is likely to cost more and more. In question, the energy bills which explode for the mechanics, as well as the price of the various parts.

We know: between gasoline, insurance and possible mechanical problems, having your own car can cost money. And things may well get worse in the future. A recent study published by Vroomly, price comparators on garages, shows that prices have exploded. This is the case for example oils and consumables, as well as spare parts which increased from 6% to 11% over the past three months.

Garage owners affected by the rise in energy

A semi-surprise, since the last barometer of car repair prices in France, carried out by idGarages.com in August 2022, already reported price increases. General overhaul of a car cost on average 265 euros this yeari.e. 9 euros more than in 2021. The price of the distribution kit, for its part, rose to 556 euros (+ 34 euros in one year).

And the increase could also come from the need for professionals to pass on the last invoices received. Like some artisans such as bakers, mechanics are seeing their electricity bills rise sharply, with increases of up to 20%.

Two-thirds of mechanics plan to raise their prices

Faced with this, nearly two-thirds of mechanics plan to increase their prices and a quarter of them have already started to do so. Conversely, 7% of mechanics do not think they will increase their prices.

Inevitably, this will have an impact on the portfolio of motorists: almost half of garage owners who are thinking of increasing their prices are considering an increase in services of 6 to 10%. They are 20% to consider a raise from 11 to 20%. Only 7% are waiting to see the evolution of inflation to determine this tariff change.

Despite everything, of the 300 partners questioned, half of them admitted to being “worried” about their future.
