Lenovo offers a laptop PC with a 16-inch screen that folds back on itself. The manufacturer intends to capitalize on the feedback from the first version to market a convincing product.
Based on its experience, Lenovo has reduced the thickness of its X1 Fold by 25%, in particular thanks to a screen that folds completely on itself. Unlike the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold Oled, the curvature of the Oled screen is much greater and integrated into the hinge. When folded, the X1 Fold is only 1.74 cm thick, almost half that of its Taiwanese competitor. The 16.3-inch OLED panel displays 2560 x 2024 pixels and supports HDR at 600 cd / m² and the stylus.

Inside the X1 Fold, Lenovo packs a 12th Gen Intel Core U9-series processor, i.e. a Core i5-1240U or Core i7-1260U with a 9W thermal envelope. Lenovo took advantage of this to install a steam chamber system to evacuate the calories, the X1 Fold is therefore devoid of any moving parts.
On the connector side, Lenovo has placed three USB-C ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 compatible on each slice, so that at least two ports are accessible, regardless of the orientation of the tablet. The 6E wifi is in the game, accompanied by Bluetooth 5.2 and an (optional) 5G module.
The audio part consists of three speakers, the activation of which depends on the orientation of the X1 Fold to always enjoy stereo sound.
Lenovo obviously thought of accessories with a backlit Bluetooth keyboard equipped with a fingerprint reader, which is magnetized on the lower part of the screen, but also on the back of the X1 Fold when the latter is folded.
A support is also available to use the X1 Fold vertically as a large screen with the keyboard placed in front of you.
We got a glimpse of the Lenovo X1 Fold, but couldn’t use it to our liking. Our first impressions of the ergonomics of the whole are rather positive, and the size of the X1 Fold without keyboard and its stand is comparable to a 13-inch PC.
The Lenovo X1 Fold will be available in November 2022 starting at $2,500 (without accessories).
