Less comfortable than the tenors of telephony in the field of technical characteristics, Nokia is counting on attractive prices and a certain robustness to seduce with its new 5G smartphones, the X30 and G60.
Rather discreet in the field of smartphones, favoring mobiles inspired by its former glories or touch pads, Nokia comes into play with three new products announced at IFA 2022. Entry-level and mid-range smartphones , two of which are compatible with 5G: the Nokia X30 and G60.
The X30 is the most advanced proposition of this wave of smartphones. The Nokia device has a 6.43-inch Amoled screen (Full HD +, 90 Hz) behind which hides a Snapdragon 695 chip to which manufacturers such as Xiaomi (Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G) or Samsung (Galaxy A23 5G) also appealed this year. The chip is flanked by 6 to 8 GB of RAM, while its storage is 128 or 256 GB. A 4200 mAh battery drives everything, and benefits from a 33 W charge.
Nokia intends to make this X30 its most gifted smartphone in photography. To do this, it relies on a main module with a 50-megapixel sensor and stabilized optics opening at f / 1.8. An ultra wide-angle module (13 megapixels, f / 2.4) accompanies it. A 16-megapixel module finally sits on the front.
As so often, Nokia relies on the robustness of its product. The terminal measures 158.9 x 73.9 x 7.99 mm for 185 grams and benefits from an IP67 waterproof certification. The brand also promises three OS updates for this X30 called to be released under Android 12. It is announced at the price of 499 € in France, for a release this month of September.
Nokia G60: a Snapdragon 695 5G and a more modest technical sheet
The X30 is accompanied by the G60 5G, which inherits certain characteristics from its friend. A little larger with its 6.58-inch display, it loses the Amoled panel, which it replaces with a Full HD+ LCD screen with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It retains its Snapdragon 695 chip, here accompanied by 4 to 6 GB of RAM and 64 to 128 GB of storage, with support for a microSD card. Its battery, a little more substantial, goes to 4500 mAh, but with a charge limited to 20 W. Finally, its photo block offers a 50 megapixel module without optical stabilization, an ultra wide-angle of 5 Mpx and a depth sensor of 2 MP.
The device, which weighs 190 grams and features a teardrop notch on the front, is limited to IP52 certification. These compromises result in a lower price: count 359 €.
Let’s finish this overview with the C31, representing Nokia’s entry level. 5G point here, the smartphone relies on a Unisoc SC9863A1 chip with a 4G modem only. This entry-level model also offers a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD screen, 3 to 4 GB of RAM, a large 5050 mAh battery promising long battery life, and a triple photo module (13 megapixels for the module main and 2 MP for the macro and depth modules). This C31 is announced from €129 in Europe, a price which could vary slightly in France in the event of a launch on this market.
