At IFA, we approached the flexible LG Oled Flex TV. The opportunity to see that this model looks more like a monitor than a TV, but also that the system for curving the panel via the remote control works wonderfully.
Sold by LG as a television, the Oled Flex ultimately turns out to be closer to a monitor. Its massive central leg sets the tone, as does the possibility of adjusting the height over 14 cm and the inclination between -5 and 10°. The 42-inch Oled panel is impressive for a monitor in terms of size. It displays an Ultra HD definition with a native refresh rate of 120 Hz, and benefits from FreeSync and G-Sync support. Of course, it benefits from all the qualities of the Oled (infinite contrast, instantaneous response time, etc.).
The system for curving the Oled slab is clearly visible behind the slab. It is quiet and runs smoothly.
A button allows you to quickly switch from a flat slab to a curved slab on a tight radius of 90 cm (900R). By default, three settings are offered: flat (0%), 50% and 100%, but it is possible to customize the radius in 5% increments. The advantage of this system is to have a flat screen to watch a film, a series, a sporting event or even television, then to switch to curved mode when playing (close enough to the screen) in order to favor the immersion.
The LG Oled Flex TV/monitor will be available in early 2023 at a still unknown price, but which should be between 1200 and 1500 €.
