In the aisles of the IFA, we unearthed the most stylish kitchen product at the Berlin fair. The Waterbase by Solaire (Bosch brand) is a flat sink with multiple functions. Discovery.

The Berlin IFA show is an opportunity for many manufacturers to exhibit their showcase product. Solitaire, a Bosch/Siemens brand, is one of them. For the occasion, the manufacturer unveils its Waterbase: a sink like no other with multiple functions.

It is difficult to imagine at first sight that it is a sink, since the worktop that incorporates the Waterbase is completely flat, without any cavity. In reality, it hosts a tray that lowers and raises using a touchpad. It is also from this touch interface that this very sophisticated system is controlled. It is possible to ask it to serve cold water or at room temperature or even to heat it to 80°C or 100°C, which can be practical to replace a kettle or to fill a large pot of water already heated. In a tank with a capacity of 2.8 l, the water is kept under pressure at 170°C to be served on demand. Each time it is switched on, the water is automatically emptied from the tap in order to offer water precisely at the temperature requested. The Solitaire Waterbase can accommodate a carbonated bottle (that of the manufacturer necessarily) which allows you to deliver sparkling water directly from the tap.

The Waterbase tray rises and lowers on demand, always from the touchpad, to take advantage of a washing tray. It is also possible to completely remove the tray and the blades that hold it to clean it in the dishwasher. On the other hand, it is impossible to remove the system which makes it possible to lower and raise the tray, which could prove to be really penalizing for cleaning. In the event that water leaks out when the tray is in the raised position, the liquid can easily be drained out through the edges by pressing on one of the corners of the tray.

If that was not enough, the Waterbase is equipped with a small compartment to dry the sponges using a resistance and a fan.

Marketed between 5,000 and 9,000 € depending on the options, the Solitaire system is close to the category of the most designer products at the IFA, and is also the most striking in-house innovation at the Berlin show.
