The IFA is also an opportunity to rediscover forgotten or unknown products for the youngest. On its stand, Thomson is showcasing one of its iconic products from the 1990s, the ZEO television set designed by Philippe Starck.

Released in 1994, the Thomson TV clashed with its original design. At a time when most televisions were black or gray, Philippe Starck brought color and, above all, an ultra-original design. The TV did indeed seem to be smiling. It also identified some interesting ideas, such as the ability to tilt the TV to the left or right to facilitate readability while lying in bed.
The original design remote control reacted to a whistle by emitting a beep.
The remote control was not left out since it also benefited from an original design. She landed and stood vertically like a gun. The buttons on the top were almost placed under the thumb, but not really practical. Another new feature, the remote control could be found by whistling. She recognized the hissing and then beeped. A feature brought up to date by Sony, which has integrated a speaker into the remote controls of its most high-end TVs. Connected via Bluetooth to the TV, the remote control reacts to voice commands “Where’s my remote?” recognized by the TV with microphones.
For the record, the Thomson ZEO TV was connected to a Thomson THA100 Android TV box simply plugged in using an HDMI to SCART converter.
