How the pricing table works
While the IFA in Berlin will officially reopen its doors on September 2, 2022 after several editions disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, Ezviz is getting a little ahead and giving a glimpse of some of the novelties exhibited on its stand. The first is a video baby monitor soberly baptized BM1, for Baby Monitor 1. It is indeed a novelty in the manufacturer’s catalog, which however does not seem to have started from scratch. The Ezviz BM1 is more like a BC2 revisited for monitoring toddlers.
1080p video and wireless operation
The device incorporates the same equipment as the brand’s small surveillance camera, starting with a 2-megapixel sensor that allows it to deliver images of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The optics covering a field of vision of 100° diagonally are also included, as is infrared vision. Also included is a 2000 mAh battery for easy installation. With a 2.4 GHz wifi connection as a bonus, the BM1 does not require any connection to operate.
Support and features tailored for babies
Ezviz has gone one step further to make installation easier. If the BC2 came with a magnetic support, the baby monitor comes with a cot support. It is possible to detach this support to keep only the camera, and place it for example around a play area. It can thus follow baby throughout the day. In order to limit accidents, a silicone cover softens the angles of the camera, while dressing it up as a little pink rabbit or a blue teddy bear – a bit cliché of course, but cute.
The Baby Monitor 1 also differs from the BC2 in its functionality. Ezviz not only promises specific alerts for baby’s movements, but also for getting out of bed and crying. The BM1 must also be able to automatically play music to calm him down when parents are not available. If they are, on the other hand, a microphone and a loudspeaker will allow them to calm him down by talking to him directly.
Finally, Ezviz ensures that the infrared led, useful for night vision, does not emit any light in order to preserve darkness and the baby’s sleep. The recordings, whether stored on a microSD card or CloudPlay, can be a kind of “visual diary”. However, the BM1 does not seem to offer automatic albums, as the Cubo Ai Babyphone does. However, the latter is a bit more expensive. The BM1 is launched at the recommended retail price of €170, which is still quite expensive. Remember also that the BC2 camera is available for less than 100 €.
