IFA 2023 – With the Q5 Pro and Q8 Max, Roborock launches 2-in-1 robots under €500

Roborock certainly created a surprise with the Zeo One, the very first washing machine in its catalog. But if the company now wishes to extend its offer, it does not forget floor maintenance and also takes advantage of the IFA to launch new robot vacuum cleaners. The Q5 Pro and Q8 Max do not bring anything new a priori, but this is precisely what allows them to arrive on the market at a relatively affordable price.

DuoRoller brush, but simple mop

Nothing new, but these robots still have the merit of introducing the DuoRoller brush of the S8 within the Q range. If we did not necessarily find it more efficient than the single brush of the previous models during our tests, it limits according to Roborock more effectively the entanglement of hair and hair. Even the Q Revo, the most advanced model in the range, was not entitled to it. The Q5 Pro and Q8 Max are also announced with the same suction power of 5500 Pa as the latter, but are content with a simple mop to wash the floor. The rotary mops therefore remain reserved for the Q Revo at Roborock for the time being.

Obstacle detection and more with the Q8 Max

The Q8 Max is still a little more advanced with its electronic water dispenser allowing you to adjust the flow rate to 30 levels to moisten the mop. Its water tank is also larger: 350 ml against 180 for the Q5 Pro. The main asset of the Q8 Max, however, lies in its navigation system. If both models are equipped with a laser rangefinder to map the house and optimize their route, it also integrates the Reactive Tech system of the Q Revo to detect obstacles using lasers on the front.

The Q5 Pro still has the advantage of offering a slightly larger dust bin than the Q8 Max, since Roborock announces 770 ml against 470 ml. This is a point that can be important with animals at home; the tray quickly fills up with hair. However, it should also be noted that the two robots can be purchased in “Plus” versions with the RockDock Plus of the Q7 Max+ for more peace of mind. This station is responsible for emptying their collector by sucking its contents into a bag to be changed approximately every seven weeks. It of course also recharges their battery, with a capacity of 5200 mAh for an announced autonomy of up to four hours in both cases.

The Roborock Q5 Pro will be available from mid-September, as will the Roborock Q8 Max. They will be launched at recommended retail prices of €349 and €499 respectively. The prices of the Roborock Q5 Pro+ and Q8 Max+ have not yet been specified.
