Unsurprisingly, the Star Orbit ring of smartphones Huawei Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro catch the eye of passers-by in the halls of IFA 2022. Worthy heirs to the Huawei Nova 9, which we had appreciated a lot, these models are however distinguished by the priority they give to the front camera. Because, according to the manufacturer, young people largely prefer selfies and vlogs.

Overall, the design of these new Huawei flagships for young people has changed very little. The Star Orbit ring has been improved, the body of the smartphone is more shiny and offers a more silky touch. In sum, the Huawei Nova 10 and 10 Pro take on a luxury look and feel.

With these new flagships, the Chinese manufacturer goes against what we usually see, namely a fairly complete rear photo module and a passable selfie camera on the front. Here, the Huawei Nova 10 and 10 Pro significantly improve the capabilities of the front camera, both in terms of specifications and software, with interesting features for the daily life of self-portrait enthusiasts.

The Huawei Nova 10 and 10 Pro feature the industry’s first ultra-wide 60-megapixel autofocus front camera. In addition to offering excellent image resolution, it is capable of supporting an angle of 100° and offers 4K video quality. It features instant autofocus with QPD (Quad Phased Detection), enabling a 30% increase in focusing speed.

The Huawei Nova 10 Pro has a second 8-megapixel front sensor dedicated to close-up portraiture, which also supports 2x optical zoom and up to 5x digital zoom. On the rear, the Nova 10 and 10 Pro offer a 50-megapixel Ultra Vision sensor that is said to deliver ideal results in low-light conditions, thanks to a 40% improvement in light absorption.

Among the features attached to it, we can mention audio tracking, background noise suppression, or Follow Focus which locks and follows the video subject. Of course, there is the Petal Clip video application which integrates video stabilization, color grading or even editing features to produce quality vlogs.

Screen, performance, price and availability

For the rest, the manufacturer has not been generous in detail. So, you will have to be a little patient to discover the complete technical sheets of these two new smartphones. It’s slim, but here’s everything we know about the Huawei Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro.

The Huawei Nova 10 weighs 168 grams for a thickness of 6.88 mm. The Pro model is slightly heavier and thicker since it weighs 191 grams and measures 7.88 mm thick.

The screen should be the same for both models, and offers a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz. Fluidity will therefore be there.

They will be equipped with the Snapdragon 870 but will not benefit from 5G. Smartphones embed a liquid cooling system supported by temperature sensing technology, powered by artificial intelligence, for optimal heat dissipation.

The Huawei Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro are equipped with two stereo speakers with Histen technology. Users will be able to enjoy an ultra-wide sound field for an immersive experience when listening to music, watching movies or playing mobile games.

The battery capacity has not been communicated, but the Huawei Nova 10 Pro is compatible with the Chinese manufacturer’s 100 W SuperCharge function. Thus, it would only take 10 minutes to charge the smartphone from 20 to 80%, and 20 minutes to achieve a full charge from zero to 100%.

The two smartphones will be available for pre-order from September 26 for a launch scheduled for October 2022. On the price side, the manufacturer announces that the Huawei Nova 10 will be sold at 499 euros (the same price as the Huawei Nova 9 when it is released). The Huawei Nova 10 Pro reaches a price of 699 euros.
