IKARO Will Not Die: FuturLab unveils a spiritual successor to the Velocity where movement is king

The English developers of FuturLab are talented and already have excellent games under their belt from renowned publishers. The most recent is now known to the whole world since it is PowerWash Simulatoredited by Square Enix Collectivewho never ceases to be entitled to DLC collaborative with known and appreciated universes, the next being none other than Back to the future. If, like us, you were hoping for a sequel to Velocity 2Xedited by Curve Digital and that we can only advise you, today’s announcement should have your full attention, because even if it is not a third episode, the game which was revealed during the Xbox Partner Preview is described as a spiritual successor to the license and it is felt. Here is IKARO Will Not Die !

This game is described as a “momentum-based, fast-flowing action rogue-lite”an arcade-style action game where we will be constantly moving and which will have game mechanics roguelite. Here is its description on Steam by the publisher Thunderful Games :

Experience maximum immersion gameplay in IKARO Will Not Die, the spiritual successor to the game of the year Velocity 2X. This new arcade action title offers a clever mix of anti-gravity sliding and unique combat in a game designed around speed.

Tame gravity-defying gaming systems to surf sci-fi environments, take part in spectacular combat by chaining abilities and employ a whole bunch of cool techniques each in Futurlab’s latest title, the award-winning studio behind PowerWash Simulator and the Velocity saga.

There CEO from FuturLab Kirsty Rigden said the following about‘IKARO Will Not Die :

We’re excited to finally be able to share a preview of our next game, IKARO Will Not Die. As the spiritual successor to Velocity, fans will recognize the series’ motifs, but with the style and sophistication of the combat and traversal systems multiplied by 1,000. We can’t wait to share more next.

If IKARO Will Not Die has so far only been confirmed on Xbox Series X|S and PCthe publisher’s video clearly mentions consoles in the plural, so we can cross our fingers that it will also be released on PS5 and why not also on Switch.

In terms of storyline, we don’t have anything concrete at the moment, but the video shows us a conversation between a certain MAGUS_THOMAS51 And LOKI_5746who comment on videos of the protagonist, whose actions receive likes in the shape of a heart. And apparently, IKARO is “one of them”. There is mention of Earth, but apparently the action does not take place there if we correctly understand the meaning of the answer which follows. Could this be a clever way of placing the game in the same universe as Velocity 2X after the invasion of the empire Vokh For example ? With the presence of alien language repeatedly, anything is possible.

Velocity 2X Critical Mass Edition is sold for €9.99 in its PS4 boxed version at the house of Micromania. Gamesplanet proposes on his side Velocity Ultra Deluxe on PC at the low price of €1.40.
