Ikea wants to simplify the connected home with a new Hub

Since the release of its first TRADFRI gateway and its application in 2014, Ikea has made good progress in its vision of the connected home. The real estate giant has updated its SYMFONISK range of speakers that blend in with the decor in partnership with Sonos and launched VAPPEBY, an LED outdoor light equipped with a speaker and compatible with Spotify Tap.

It therefore seems logical that the manufacturer decides to update its gateway as well as its application to meet current demand. Compatible with Matter, DIRIGERA is a hub created in collaboration with Google.

The aim is to offer an easy and user-friendly experience for managing all of the connected products in the home, individually or in groups. The company has assured that the DIRIGERA will perfectly manage the devices already in place in the house and is working on a functionality allowing to control the devices wherever you are for the first half of 2023.

A welcome ‘update’ given that Ikea continues to expand its offering of ‘smart’ appliances. The hub and app are expected to launch in October this year.
