Île-de-France: the largest “food court” in the region will open in Saint-Ouen in 2023


In the heart of the Docks district of Saint-Ouen (93), a brand new district built on a former industrial complex, the largest “food court” in Ile-de-France is due to open in the spring of 2023. It will take place in a remarkable building, now unused.

There, a “gourmet hall” of 13,000 m2 has been designed to fit into the heart of this former industrial area located between the Town Hall of Saint-Ouen and the Seine and must be built in place of the old train factory. of Alstom dated 1922, as revealed by the Sunday Journal this Sunday, March 27.

A market, restaurants and an incubator

It will consist on one side of a food market for residents with all the classic offer (baker, butcher, fishmonger, market gardeners, florist…) and on the other of a “food court”, with a ten food kiosks, food trucks and 4 more traditional restaurants.

At the same time, the site is supposed to host a bar, the “signature” of the place, a 300-seat performance hall and a conference center. A place that will be hosted by La Lune Rousse, an event company already in charge of operating Ground Control, in the 12th.

Finally, a laboratory dedicated to gastronomy, including a cooking school, a shared kitchen but also an incubator, as well as 3,000 m2 of co-working spaces reserved for professionals in the sector should also open in this “food court”.

“We are developing and then will animate the street and the hall – the largest in Ile-de-France – for a period of 30 years”, specified to the JDD Antoine Frey, the president of the eponymous group, who must manage the development – in addition to the “food court” – 50 new convenience stores and 6 medium-sized stores, which will be set up in Cours des Lavandières.

For its part, the town hall of Saint-Ouen (93) must pay 4.5 million euros for the planting of 64 trees, the paving of the main street and the creation of 3 playgrounds for children. A first part of which will be available this summer.

A project whose socialist mayor of the city, Karim Bouamrane, is very proud: “with this project, Paris will become the suburb of Saint-Ouen”. “Everyone will be able to come, with family, with friends, to eat tapas, couscous, andouillette. We want quality products at accessible prices 10 to 20% cheaper than in Paris, and social ties, ”he assured the JDD.
