Ille-et-Vilaine: drama in an amusement park, a seasonal worker killed in troubled circumstances

An 18-year-old young man who worked in an amusement park near the city of Rennes died after falling from a basket on Wednesday evening. But the circumstances of his fall remain mysterious.

New drama at an amusement park. An 18-year-old young man who had been hired for the summer to make a little extra money before going back to school died in strange circumstances. The accident occurred on Tuesday August 3, while he was checking the proper functioning of one of the nacelles of one of the park’s flagship attractions: La Tour du Gué. The machine was suspended seven meters high.

The amusement park in question is called Cabac Park. It is located in the town of Mesnil-Roch, between Rennes and Saint-Malo, in Ille-et-Vilaine. “According to the first elements of the investigation, he would have voluntarily hung on the nacelle”, said the public prosecutor of Saint-Malo, Christine Le Crom. Seriously injured after falling seven meters, therefore, the young man was transported in absolute urgency to the hospital center of Pontchaillou, in Rennes, according to information from Ouest-France.

The young man succumbed to his injuries less than 48 hours after his fall

Unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries and died less than 48 hours later, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. Logically, the attraction has remained closed since the accident and a psychological unit has been opened to take care of park employees and people near the accident. All are deeply shocked. The labor inspectorate and the police are still working hard to try to shed light on what really happened.
