The pirate group EVO has made a solid reputation in a few years. Indeed, the collective has several successes to its credit, such as the early sharing of the BluRay version of Spider-Man No Way Home. EVO has become accustomed to regularly publishing films and series on download sites, but for the past few days, the group has stopped broadcasting any content.
In recent weeks, police operations against operators of IPTV sites have multiplied. We recently learned that the Spanish police have dismantled one of the most important European pirate IPTV networks.
In England, two resellers of pirate boxes were caught and sentenced to two years in prison. Another British citizen was arrested and sentenced to 30 months in prison. Here again, he was selling pirate boxes under Android.
However, our colleagues from the Torrent Freak site are led to believe that the authorities have struck again. This time, the target could be the EVO group, a pirate collective that enjoys a good reputation in the community thanks to several outbursts.
Has the EVO group been dismantled by the police?
Indeed, EVO has made a name for itself by publishing films and series in excellent quality on illegal streaming sites and torrent files. Many times, the group even managed to beat the rights holders to the post by publishing certain feature films before their official release. This was the case for Nomadland, Uncut Gems, The Power of The Dog, My Salinger Year or even the preliminary version of the Blu-Ray of Spider-Man No Way Home.
If usually, EVO regularly publishes new content on pirate sites, it has been radio silence since November 25, 2022. According to several rumours, the group is said to be inactive because the members were arrested by the authorities. For the moment, impossible to know, for lack of official declaration.
In an interview with our Torrent Freak colleagues in 2021, one of the band members said their actions were essential: “We do it for fun. We know we help a lot of people who can’t afford to go to the movies. Maybe if studios cared a bit more about consumers, there wouldn’t be a lot of internet piracy. But they don’t care anymore, what matters is profit, profit, profit”. Note that the pirate group IFT has also mysteriously disappeared for some time.
