HSV professionals apparently involved in a serious accident

Two football professionals from the second division Hamburger SV are threatened with legal trouble. Media reports on a suspected illegal street race resulting in an accident. In addition, there is an accusation of escape from the accident, the police are investigating.

According to a media report, two HSV players are said to be involved in a serious accident after a road race, including an escape. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, the BMW of winger Jean-Luc Dompé crashed into a bus stop on Hamburg’s Hafenstrasse on Monday evening. Before that, the car apparently took part in a street race – with a Mercedes belonging to his teammate William Mikelbrencis, who was just 18 years old.

According to the report, however, the latter was not behind the wheel. According to information from the newspaper, Dompé did – he lost control of his sports car and broke through a wall. In addition to a total loss to the car, the “Hafentreppe” stop was also completely destroyed. According to eyewitnesses, after the accident the driver jumped into Mikelbrencis’ Mercedes – which drove away. When the officials arrived at the scene of the accident, they only found the abandoned wreckage, according to the “kicker”.

A police spokesman did not confirm the names when asked by the sports information service, but the home address of the vehicle owner was checked. It was a 27-year-old Frenchman who had “a slight injury to his hand”, which would apply to Dompé. So far, the police have assumed that it was the driver who was involved in the accident. The emergency services also found the two suspected occupants of the Mercedes-Benz in Mikelbrencis’ apartment.

As the police announced, “investigations into the suspicion of a prohibited motor vehicle race and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident were taken up”. According to witness statements, the two drivers are said to have “delivered an alleged car race” on Monday evening. With “roaring engine noise and excessive speed” they are said to have driven “at the edge of the harbor towards the city center”.
