The jungle camp replacement show starts in January. But will the candidates and spectators then have to do without spiders, cockroaches and the like?

The well-tried jungle camp moderation duo Sonja Zietlow (52) and Daniel Hartwich (42) will also lead the newly designed jungle show in 2021 due to the Corona. In "I'm a Star – The Great Jungle Show", the still secret celebrities fight for "the golden ticket" for the jungle camp 2022. It is only logical for the moderators that there will be a replacement show instead of being canceled without replacement. "If we just say 'The jungle is canceled', I think many would be disappointed, because it's such a ritual in January," Hartwich explains in an interview with RTL.

What did the audience expect?

What the station has planned for the new format, the moderators also reveal: "What we can expect from the show is a mixture of a lot of retrospect, many conversations with former candidates and perhaps with people accompanying candidates," says Hartwich and refers also on "a bit of action". Zietlow laughingly agrees. Speaking of action: Do viewers have to do without spiders, cockroaches and the like? "You have to do without the jungle test," says Zietlow, "but not the test". "The big jungle show test is there," said the two happily.

The broadcaster itself says so much: "In 'I am a Star – The Great Jungle Show' the camp candidates have to prove their suitability for the jungle on a daily basis. Which candidate has to leave the show is determined by the audience and live in the Studio announced by Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich. "

You already miss Australia

"It's also my 9th season, your – my God – 15th season, Sonja", says Hartwich, referring to the many years that the two have always spent around the turn of the year in Down Under. There is no question that there is also melancholy. Zietlow and Hartwig are sad that they are not allowed to moderate in their tree house. And they already miss the Australian television team. "It's a big, colorful, funny, nice team. And I'll miss them, the Australians. The rest of them are there," said Hartwich.

"I'm a Star – The Great Jungle Show" starts on January 15th

In the 15-part event series "Ich bin ein Star – Die große Dschungelshow" (RTL / TVNow), celebrities will fight for entry into the jungle camp in 2022 from January 15th – and only one can win. The regular jungle camp, which was initially relocated from Australia to Wales, was ultimately canceled completely due to the corona restrictions. In the new show, which will take place in Germany, not only the tried and tested moderation duo takes a close look at the candidates. Jungle camp darling Dr. Bob is specially flown in from Australia.

"In the grand finale on Friday, January 29, 2021, 10:15 pm, the audience will vote who deserves to move into the 15th Australian jungle camp in 2022. The winner is allowed to go to Australia in 2022 and also receives a Prize money of 50,000 euros, "announced the broadcaster on Tuesday. Who will secure the "golden ticket" in "I am a star – The great jungle show"?
