In this new reality TV show, the host stays in a villa in Malaga, Spain, with twelve other candidates: Eddy Ben Youssef, Carla Moreau, Marwa Merazka, Nicolo, Maïssane, Nikola Lozina, Océane and Marine El Himer, Coumba Baradji , Yael, Gabriel Ayuso, or even Shauna Dewit. Strategy and power are at the heart of this game, at the end of which only one will remain! A concept that had something to seduce Pascal Soetens, a true “competitor” in the soul, as he confided during an interview with puremedias. But unfortunately, the adventure The Power will also have been marked by tragedy for the former martial arts champion.
Pascal Soetens’ godmother, uncle and cousin died in a fire
It was during the press conference for the show, organized in the premises of the M6 group on March 12, 2024, at which our colleagues from Tele-Leisure were able to attend, as he revealed the terrible ordeal he had to face recently. “I lost three family members during filming”, says Pascal Soetens. Her godmother, her uncle and her cousin all died in a fire: “The house caught fire and they died in their house.” News that was obviously a shock: “I receive a phone call, a message and a photo. My brother calls me and tells me what happened. I’m collapsing”explained the former TF1 star.
Of course, Pascal Soetens wanted to be “present at the funeral” of his loved ones, and therefore temporarily left the villa of The Power to return to France. “They let me go away, leave Malaga to go to Oise where I live. They were great with me telling me to do my adventure and they would handle the rest”, he said about the production of the show. But there is no question for the candidate to definitively abandon his role. He therefore returned some time later to the filming of The Powermore determined than ever to win the 20,000 euros at stake for his association A smile, a hope for life.
