"I'm fine": after his disappearance, Diary Sow explains with a mysterious letter: Current Woman The MAG

But where did Diary Sow go? This is the question many French people were asking themselves at the start of the year. The 20-year-old young woman, who had left Paris for Toulouse during the New Year's Eve, did not reappear when classes resumed in early January 2021. Student in preparatory class at Lycée Louis-Le-Grand, Diary Sow embodies excellence and academic success. After her baccalaureate, in 2019, she won a scholarship which allowed her to join the prestigious Parisian high school to study physics, chemistry and engineering. His disappearance had worried his relatives, his friends, his teachers but also Gilles Verdez, the chronicler of Do not touch My TV, who was moved. On January 7, the Paris prosecutor's office also opened an investigation into disturbing disappearance. Wanted notices were quickly posted in the Capital and relayed on social networks, where the mobilization was very quickly organized. However, the criminal trail has recently been ruled out. Thursday January 21, Serigne Mbaye Thiam, Minister of National Education of Senegal and “godfather” of Diary Sow, gave his news via the social network Twitter "With his consent and the permission of his family." The latter notably published extracts from a letter that she allegedly sent, relayed the next day by The Parisian, who had already contacted someone close to the young woman. “We finally have news from Diary Sow who is doing well ”, he says. “In a letter she sent me, followed by several exchanges in recent days, she breaks the silence for the first time.”

"I understand that you are all surprised"

If Serigne Mbaye Thiam is to be believed, the young woman writes: "Hello uncle. I want to make it clear that I write to you as freely as I left. I left enough clues behind me to know I was leaving on my own. I am not hiding. I'm not running away. See this as a kind of salutary respite in my life. If I had not come forward until now, it was for the simple reason that I was unable to do so. Uncle, I understand that you are all surprised. I would also understand if you were disappointed. ” Diary Sow continues: “The girl you know wouldn't have missed a day of school for anything. Pressure ? No. The pressure was never a drag for me. On the contrary. I am not the victim of any kind of pressure from anyone around me. I haven't fired up because of the confinement or the prep. My life was as I wanted it to be, as it had to be. Doubts ? I never doubted my abilities or my strength. My departure is not an admission of weakness. Please know, however, that if it had been possible for me to do otherwise, I would not have done so. I never thought my name was going to fuel so much debate, that so many people were going to worry (…) The day before my departure again, I was hesitant. As I discussed with you the future that awaited me, that I wanted, I realized how crazy my project was. Running away? A very pejorative word for such a deep quest. ”

A police source confirms that Diary Sow "is free and is doing well"

Aware of the general concern caused by her disappearance, the young woman wishes to reassure the people who sought her. “I'm fine, I'm safe”, she says. “Know that I am terribly, deeply sorry. My family deserves to know, while I wait for me to find the courage and strength to reconnect with them. Those who seek a rational explanation for my act will be disappointed, since there is none. Contrary to what people seem to think, to the words that I am given, I am not giving up my life before. I'm not sorry to have left, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by my departure and for the people I made suffer. ” For his part, Serigne Mbaye Thiam concludes, on a note of hope and appeasement: “On behalf of the family, I wanted to thank you all for your mobilization and your compassion. Your encouragement helped Diary get through this difficult time. Now she needs peace of mind. She will certainly write. ” Friday January 22, a police source confirmed to France Television as Diary Sow “Is free and is fine.” Our colleagues report that "Thanks to this contact, the police now know where the young woman is, and are sure that she is not in danger." The investigation should therefore be closed by the Paris prosecutor's office. This disappearance is reminiscent of the heroine of the book written by Diary Sow herself, Under the face of an angel, published in January 2020 by L'Harmattan editions. Enough to keep the mystery going.
