“I’m not as obsessed as I used to be”: this addiction that Frédéric Mitterrand got rid of

Invited to the Touche plateau not at my post this Wednesday, April 12, Frédéric Mitterrand confided in his habits. And in particular on its change in television consumption.

Frédéric Mitterrand is back. After being discreet in recent months, the former Minister of Culture is back in the media and above all… in bookstores. He publishes an astonishing essay dedicated to an American star: Brad Pitt. In full promotion for his book, Frédéric Mitterrand made a detour to the Plateau de Touche not at my post this Wednesday, April 12. The opportunity for him to declare his admiration for Brad Pitt of course, but also to confide in the news and his habits. Especially television. “I watch things, yes. But I watch a lot of movies and documentaries. I watch the news and all that”, he assured Cyril Hanouna, without explaining why he does not watch other programs on his small screen. And Frédéric Mitterrand to make a clear and precise summary: “I’m not obsessed enough as I once was. I read more than I watch TV. I read more than I used to”.

“I wrote a book on Brad Pitt because I love him, explained Frédéric Mitterrand in a press release from his publishing house XO. He’s a real boy: sexy, strong, adventurous, and I’m sure he’d protect me if I needed him. Because he also has the frailties of real men who know how difficult life is. Periods of severe depression I have experienced as well. Writing about it is also a way of sharing them. I don’t know him, he doesn’t know me, but maybe he’ll stop on this bottle overboard when he discovers that he has a friend somewhere in France who loves him, admires him and understand it.” On the Touche set not at my post, Frédéric Mitterrand also explained that he did not have much sympathy for Angelina Jolie.

Brad Pitt “going through a difficult time”

“It’s a bit of the myth of the American who leaves with the kids and the money”, he launched, in reference to the bitter legal battle that the two former spouses have been waging for years. What he dislikes about Angelina Jolie: “When I met her, I found her very cold. (…) In the way things happen: on one side, there is an opera and on the other, silence. In this kind of circumstances, what touches me the most is the silence”. And if he thinks that Brad Pitt is “depressive”, it’s because he recognizes himself in him. “He is very modest, he confides very little about his feelings. Except for three or four years, he explained. He gave remarkable interviews. (…) Each time, he says he is going through a difficult period.”
