Hamas launched a surprise attack on Saturday October 7 morning against Israel. The leader of Hamas’ military wing, Mohammed Deif, said 5,000 rockets were fired at Israel to launch Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. “We decided to say enough is enough”explained Mr. Deif, who urged all Palestinians to confront Israel.
The Israeli army also reported the infiltration of“an unknown number of terrorists” into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip.
In response to Hamas’s strikes, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords and began bombing Gaza.
