Imerys revises upwards its ambitions to reduce CO 2 emissions

(AOF) – The industrial minerals producer Imerys announced in a press release that it had adopted new SBTi objectives aligned with the 1.5°C trajectory by reducing its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 42% in absolute value (tCO2eq) and of scope 3 by 25% by 2030, with 2021 as the reference year. The Group’s objectives across its entire value chain have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Robust governance and a plan to achieve these objectives have been defined.

“Imerys has made significant progress on its decarbonization roadmap since we set our first SBTi-validated targets in 2019. We are proud to have also obtained this validation for our new targets, which demonstrate our commitment to supporting the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century,” said Alessandro Dazza, CEO of the group.
