Immerse: learn another language in VR via the metaverse

Immerse is a platform of metaverse educational developed in collaboration with the best engineers from North America, Europe and Japan. This week, the platform made its official launch on the Meta Quest 2providing subscribers with live Spanish and English lessons, community events, a multiplayer social lounge, and various other educational content.

As a member, 12 lessons in VR will be given to you monthly, each led by a language expert who will provide you with personalized feedback in real time. You will also have access and without any time limit to a social lounge VR where you can continue to develop your skills with other users through live conversation practice. Weekly events are also planned and the company hopes that they will help create a community of learners.

Quinn Taber, Founder and CEO ofImmersesays about it:

After Facebook rebranded to Meta, it became clear that the metaverse was going to fundamentally change the way people work, play, and learn. The time had come for virtual reality and the metaverse to no longer be seen as a small addition to the classroom, but rather for platforms to speak directly to consumers and compete head-on with the school system.

So our team started meeting with Meta teams, as well as leading social impact investors, to design a new virtual world built explicitly for a community of learners. We are now on a mission to build the first thriving community of metaverses who learn, teach and build together…with VR language teaching and learning as the starting point.

Immerse is available now as a free download from the Meta Quest 2 through the Quest Store, with plans for cross-device compatibility expected in the near future. While the app itself is free, you will need to pay a monthly subscription of $44.99 to access the aforementioned content. It’s not exactly cheap, but can we really put a price on quality education? Of course not. Finally, maybe. You decide in the comments.

If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, you can treat yourself to a Oculus Quest 2 at the house of Bakerthe Fnac, Darty or Amazon for €349.99. You can also find good PCs for gamers there.
