Immigration and bedbugs: this dubious comparison by Pascal Praud which provokes a reaction: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

For several days, bedbugs have been the subject of much discussion. Sufficiently small, they manage to find their way into apartments but also public transport. A subject which is at the heart of current affairs and which Pascal Praud wished to discuss in his show Time for the pros, broadcast on CNews Friday September 29, 2023. However, the host made comments which did not go unnoticed. “Do we know why there are more bedbugs today? Is it linked to hygiene?” he began before making a very unexpected comparison. “I’m going to ask all the questions: there’s a lot of immigration at the moment. Are these people who do not have the same hygienic conditions as those who are on French soil? Is this related to this?”, then asked Pascal Praud. This link between the health problem and immigration, viewers did not expect it. The sequence caused a lot of reaction and attracted the attention of a few political figures, including one who took matters into their own hands.

Pascal Praud: remarks that shock politicians

On social networks, Internet users circulated the sequence, which was noticed by Aurélien Saintoul. The LFI deputy claimed to be shocked and announced its intention to seize Arcom. “These words areobvious racism. Pascal Praud’s so-called prudence does not hide the memory of Maurras who affirmed ‘the terrible vermin of the Jews of the East, brings lice, the plague, typhus’. Vile”, he declared on his account X (formerly Twitter). For his part, Olivier Faure, first secretary of the Socialist Party, spoke of a “racism now freewheeling and without complexes”. The same goes for Marine Tondelier, national secretary of Europe Écologie Les Verts, who specified: “When we are asked why environmentalists refuse to go on CNews, you have the answer here”. Pascal Praud, accused of being racist, was able to count on the support of Stéphane Le Rudulier. “As a reminder : The waiting area for pending migrants at Roissy airport, in the Paris region, has been infested with bedbugs for months!“, the senator wrote. A message that the journalist quoted, stating only: “Obviously, some people want to interpret a simple question differently to see what it doesn’t contain.”
