The Republicans presented this Thursday morning about twenty measures for a firmer justice. As France gradually emerges from a week of urban violence, Eric Ciotti’s party seeks to put pressure on Emmanuel Macron, on sovereign themes.

While calm is gradually returning to France after almost a week of riots, Republican figures presented this Thursday morning around twenty measures for firmer justice. Objective: to show Les Républicains as the party of order.

As an extension of their two immigration bills tabled at the end of May, the Republicans want to take the initiative and show that they are a party of government. Hence the proposals unveiled or recalled this morning, such as on immigration restrictions, but also the lowering of the criminal majority to 16 or the increase in the number of prison places.

Put pressure on the government

Breaking with impotence and immobility is what Éric Ciotti has supported, he who now calls for action. “We will propose in our texts the increase and diversification of our prison capacity, with a target of 80,000 prison places by 2027. We must also almost double the number of our closed educational centers. This will allow us to finally know a real application of the sentences and in particular the short prison sentences which we have inappropriate and remove”, he explained to the press.

The President of the Republicans also calls for the suspension of family allowances for parents whose children are guilty of crimes or misdemeanors. The right, which puts pressure on the government on sovereign themes seen at LR such as the blind spot of Emmanuel Macron, and this, at a time when discussions are underway on two key texts: the immigration bill and the programming law of the Ministry of Justice.
