Immigration: “We must abolish communitarianism to allow assimilation”

guest on Europe Morning On Wednesday, the National Rally candidate, Marine Le Pen, reconsidered her proposals for the presidential election, particularly in terms of immigration. She claimed to be convinced by assimilation and also explained that she wanted to “remove the automatic acquisition of French nationality, whatever the means.”

“Abolish the automatic acquisition of French nationality”

“I am fundamentally convinced by assimilation. And I think that mass immigration prevents assimilation because you assimilate yourself personally, but you cannot assimilate whole populations. It is impossible”, a- she assured before exposing her proposals. “First you have to give content to French nationality, it’s the concept of national priority: you are French so you have an advantage in being French in France,” said Marine Le Pen.

“Then, we must restore the school and restore through it the pride of being French,” she continued. “We also have integration through the world of work. Today the massive unemployment rate that our country is experiencing prevents a certain number of people who have been naturalized from being able to find work. But to want to work, you have to also stop trafficking. Because I’m sorry to tell you that when young people earn 10 times more by trafficking drugs, we won’t be able to explain to them that they have to work.”

For Marine Le Pen, all of these policies must be put in place at the same time in order “to fight against communitarianism and against Islamism”. But she said it, she intends to “remove the automatic acquisition of French nationality, whatever the means”. “It may be necessary to remove communitarianism to allow assimilation”, further detailed the candidate.

“France can be secular because it is of Christian culture”

Marine Le Pen also claimed that her remarks against Éric Zemmour’s party were distorted. “I said that Éric Zemmour’s approach is a community approach in the sense that he presents himself as the defender of a community. So I said that I did not believe in that, because the only community to which I believe is the national community. We must not fight communitarianism by saying ‘we are going to defend the village of Asterix.’ French spirit,” she explained.

And among her differences with the Reconquest candidate, the fact that she considers France to be a secular country: “Éric Zemmour questions the fact that our compatriots of other religions can be totally French and that is what I dispute. It is the national community which is the only admissible”, finally affirmed Marine Le Pen, before estimating that “our whole vision of the world has been shaped by our Christian culture”. “France can be secular because it is of Christian culture.”
