“We simply want people to live in France who adopt French and Western lifestyles.” While the debates on the immigration law are at the heart of the tensions between the Senate and the National Assembly, Eric Woerth, Renaissance deputy for Oise, returns to the notion of integration on the stage of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1/ CNews/ Les Echos this Sunday. And it is clear: a foreign person arriving in France must adopt local customs.
He qualifies his remarks by explaining that migrants can obviously have, for example, a religion which does not come “from the Christian roots of France” but that they must blend in with the crowd. “The great religions also shape ways of life. History shapes ways of life. We don’t live quite the same way,” he adds.
“We assimilate to our values”
“When we come to France, we assimilate to France, we assimilate to our values,” brings Eric Woerth to his point. He emphasizes that each person must not forget their history and culture. But according to MP Renaissance, these individuals must share “the values of the Republic”.
And according to him, these values are quite precise: “freedom, equality, equality between men and women, freedom of expression…” And so on!
