Imou SV1: a water & dust broom at a very attractive price

This is one of the new trends highlighted by Gifam in its review of the year 2022: brooms capable of sucking up both water and dust are slowly starting to make their nest. It is therefore not surprising that we see more and more manufacturers positioning themselves in this segment. With the SV1, Imou continues to expand its catalog. This Chinese specialist in surveillance cameras had already stood out last year with a first robot vacuum cleaner that was both affordable and efficient: the L11 Pro.

Fairly standard functions, but an attractive price

The SV1 must therefore suck up water and dust, but also wash the floor. To do this, it is equipped with a suction system (12,000 Pa announced), a motorized brush and two tanks of 750 ml each. The first is to be filled with water by the user and allows the floor to be sprayed in front of the brush to help it remove stains on the floor, while at the same time it draws the dirty water into the second tank. , which will therefore have to be emptied. To separate solid waste and avoid clogging the sink, a removable filter is provided in this dirty water tank.

Note that Imou has provided a sterilization system by electrolysis in the clean water tank, which must be able to kill bacteria on the ground without adding products – a technology that is increasingly widespread. To facilitate cleaning along walls, the wash head benefits from an (almost) edge-to-edge design. The brush can thus approach up to 6 mm from the walls, but only on one side.

As on most commercial models, the user can replace the SV1 on its base and launch a self-cleaning system to avoid manual and systematic washing of the brush once the cleaning is finished. Thanks to the sterilization system, the internal circuits should also be cleaned effectively, according to Imou. This base also allows the broom to be recharged since it is battery operated. The capacity of 4000 mAh of the latter must offer up to 35 min of use. The remaining autonomy and other information are indicated on a large display surrounded by a few controls above the motor, but the broom is started from the handle, which also allows you to switch to suction mode only, for example.

Imou has launched its first wet & dry broom at the very affordable price of €249. Competing models tend to come on the market at around €400 for the cheapest, such as the WashVac F20 from Proscenic or the Dyad Pro from Roborock. Tineco’s new Floor One S7 was launched at €799.
