Impeachment: American Crime Story is all about Bill Clinton's affair. Now it is clear: Edie Falco plays his wife Hillary.

The third season of the US anthology series "American Crime Story" is slowly taking shape. "Impeachment" will be about the affair of the then US President Bill Clinton (74) with his ex-intern Monica Lewinsky (47), as it became known in the summer of 2019. Now there are new cast details to announce: US actress Edie Falco (57), known for her leading role in the hit series "The Sopranos" (1999-2007), becomes Clinton's wife (since 1975) and ex-first lady Hillary Clinton (73) playing.

As "Collider" reports, these actors have already been confirmed: Clive Owen (56) as Bill Clinton, Beanie Feldstein (27) as Monica Lewinsky, Sarah Paulson (46) as Linda Tripp (former White House employee), Annaleigh Ashford (35) as Paula Jones (sexual harassment accuser), Billy Eichner (42) as Matt Drudge (had made the Clinton-Lewinsky affair public) and Betty Gilpin (34) as Ann Coulter (author).

Even if it sounds like it at first, it is not a leading role for Edie Falco this time. "Hillary is actually not a significant character in 'Impeachment' because it is really told from the point of view of these women who were far from the center of power," FX CEO John Landgraf (58) told the Hollywood Reporter in 2019 ".

Monica Lewinsky co-produces

The series is based on the book "A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President" by Jeffrey Toobin (60). Emmy winner Richard Shepard (born 1965, "Ugly Betty") is said to be directing the film. Not only series creator Ryan Murphy (55) acts as a producer. Monica Lewinsky herself also produces with and among others Brad Falchuk (50), the husband of Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow (48, "Shakespeare in Love").

The first two "American Crime Story" seasons were about O.J. Simpson (73) and Gianni Versace (1946-1997).
