Important change in electricity: Why it’s worth reading the meter reading now

The EEG surcharge fell as of July 1, 2022 gone, saving consumers 4.43 cents per kilowatt hour. The energy suppliers are legally obliged to pass on these savings to the customers – in addition, the energy price cannot simply be increased in the same period to compensate for the loss.

Note: The electricity price does not drop immediately, but is only compensated with the next annual bill. The amount by which the electricity bill is reduced due to the elimination of the EEG surcharge must also be shown transparently in the electricity bill.

It can therefore make sense to record the meter reading again. We explain for whom this is most worthwhile.
