A Ukraine-based tech company has developed an AI capable of creating warpaints. Their sale in the form of NFT will be used to fund charities.
ZibraIA, a Ukrainian start-up specializing in deep techhas launched a project to sell war paint generated by artificial intelligence in order to raise funds to support Ukraine, which has been under invasion by Russia for four months now.
NFT auctions to support Ukraine
The works thus created are part of the project Sirens Gallery. Each painting depicts a specific event of the war in Ukraine. You can find them in chronological order on the official website of Sirens Galleryavailable at the source of this article.
No less than eleven paintings are available for the first day of the war alone: rocket attacks by the Russian army on airports, attack on Serpents’ Island, Ukrainian people fleeing the war, preparation of molotov cocktails to defend themselves… The rhythm slows down thereafter, but many other works concerning the following days were also created, until the last in date, entitled The war in Ukraine threatens the world with an imminent food crisis.
The paintings are going to be auctioned off in the form of NFTs. The starting price for each has been set at $100 and the goal is to raise $2 million. The amount raised will be donated to two charities: Dobro.ua and Unchain.fund.
An AI based on a principle similar to DALL.E
The team behind the project used their expertise in machine learning and content generation to create a neural network system capable of generating art from textual descriptions. A process used by the DALL.E platform for example.
” We created all the technology “, explains Roman Mogylnyi, Director of Operations at ZibraIA. The tool has notably been refined to best depict war events. A database of snapshots had to be created for this, without which the generated works would not have been able to release so much realism.
Mogylnyi adds that the AI was developed to adopt a style between tragedy and heroism in order to showcase both the courage of the Ukrainian people and the dire situation in which they find themselves.
