Improbable but true: Tom Holland’s salary for Avengers was sent to another actor by mistake!

Actor Tom Hollander has revealed that he mistakenly received part of Tom Holland’s salary for the films “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

It came down to one line in the accounting table! Actor Tom Hollander (The White Lotus) happens to be in the same talent agency as Spider-Man star Tom Holland. Except that a small transfer error was made, and he ended up with a “7-figure” sum in his bank account!

Guest on the set of Seth Meyers in the United States (via Variety), Tom Hollander himself recounted this improbable anecdote:

All the news about the next Spider-Man with Tom Holland

“The accounting people at my agency made a mistake. We briefly had the same agents [avec Tom Holland]. And it was horrible. I went to see a friend who was playing at the theater in England. I quietly sat in the room, I had just worked on a BBC series and had made $30,000…

The intermission has arrived, I check my emails and I see that my agency has written me an email entitled: “Payment for the first box office bonuses of Avengers”.”

The actor then knows that he has never played in any Avengers, but decides to consult the e-mail anyway, knowing full well that it came to him by mistake:

It was a colossal sum. It wasn’t his salary, it was the first box office profits. Not even the full bonuses, just the first one. And it was more money than I would ever see. It was a 7-figure sum.

So while Tom Hollander had just finished the Baptiste series with Tchéky Karyo, Tom Holland was filming Spider-Man: Far From Home and at only 23 years old received a tidy sum for the box office of the last two Avengers to date, which brought in respectively 2 billion (Infinity War) and 2.799 billion (Endgame).

Enough to underline the salary inequality between the actors, between those who shoot blockbusters with profit from the box office and the others, who are paid a fee and will never receive such sums. Hence the interest for an actor wishing to be very well paid to have access to such films.

Finally, let us point out that the last two Avengers came to close ten years of a connected universe and therefore achieved unreal and exceptional entries at the box office. Hence the significant bonus earned by Holland, who before them had only appeared in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Let’s imagine for a second what confirmed MCU stars like Chris Evans or Robert Downey Jr must have received…
