Improve the durability of eyeshadows | BRIGITTE.de

Who doesn't know it? We take extra time to put on eye-catching eye make-up and after a few hours the colors fade and the mascara is no longer in the right place. This has an end now! Here are the ultimate tricks from the makeup artist.

We have known for a long time that it is important to prepare the eyes for make-up with a primer and to use waterproof products for more hold. But why do the products often not last as long as we would like? Make-up artist David Razzano shows on Instagram what should never be missing in his make-up routine.

Don't forget the eyelashes

We probably all know that eyeshadow primer is an absolute must-have for long-lasting eye make-up. Preparation is everything. But not only the eyelids have to be prepared, but also our eyelashes – especially if we are not wearing eyeshadow.

David Razzano shows us how: All you need is a blender brush and transparent, loose powder. Razzano applies the powder very close to the lash line and doesn't forget to powder it all around the eye. The reason: The powder absorbs excess oil even below the lash line and the mascara does not smear over the course of the day. His extra tip: waterproof does not mean oil-proof. This is why waterproof mascara can smear and crumble in contact with oily skin.

Khol-Kajal is key

Kajal on the lower waterline makes eye make-up complete, but it often disappears too quickly due to the fluid our eyes produce. What is the solution? Of course, according to Razzano, we can also use waterproof kohl or eyeliner. But if we apply it to the damp lash line, the consistency of the eyeliner and the moisture do not get along and the color of the eyeliner can no longer be seen at some point.

His tip: Khol-Kajal! The ingredients in khol kajal are very dry – we often think it feels too drying. But that is exactly what is important. The Khol-Kajal absorbs the liquid and "dries" firmly on the waterline. Then we can apply our favorite eyeliner or kohl pencil over it or we just use the khol kohl. It will definitely last forever.

Brush cleansing

Sounds simple – but unfortunately we forget it far too often. So that the colors of the eye make-up last a long time and do not run into one another, we should always work with clean brushes. While applying make-up, it is sufficient to rinse the brush briefly with lukewarm water and pat dry on a cosmetic tissue. In any case, you should plan a fixed cleaning routine for your brushes. Light eye shadows in particular only look really beautiful if we apply them with a brush without any paint residue. This makes the eye make-up look cleaner and the colors can perform really well on the prepared eyelid.

Setting, setting, setting

Just as important as preparing our eyelids is spreading and fixing the finished eye make-up. David Razzano advises carefully setting the eye make-up with a clean brush and a little colorless powder. A trick that we have known for a long time and now want to use again is the spray setting. This also helps to make eye shadow, mascara and khol-kajal even more long-lasting. Another tip: the brush can also be moistened with fixing spray before applying the eyeshadow. This makes the eyeshadow sit even better on the lid and gives the color tones maximum intensity.
