According to a new report from Insider Gaming, which recently revealed the technical sheet of the PS5 Pro, Sony could introduce a special “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label to clearly identify games taking full advantage of the improved capabilities of the system. The idea of an “Enhanced” badge harkens back to the PS4 Pro era, when Games optimized for this mid-gen upgrade received a “PS4 Pro Enhanced” mark on their boxes.

As a reminder, this label indicated improvements such as higher resolutions on 4K TVs or smoother refresh rates compared to base versions of the PS4. Sony was then preparing a similar labeling system, internally called “Trinity Enhanced”. However, to get this PS5 Pro Enhanced status, games will have to meet certain performance criteria.

What do we know about Sony’s “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label?

First of all, the report indicates that Qualified PS5 Pro Enhanced games must offer gameplay “constant at 60 frames per second“. Although many current PS5 games feature 60fps performance modes, the graphics are often reduced compared to the more visually rich 30fps modes.

But the demands of the PS5 Pro Enhanced don’t stop there. Games must also be rendered in 4K definition, thanks to reconstruction and upscaling techniques, the famous PSSR technology that we are impatiently awaiting, and add or increase ray tracing effects » compared to their counterparts running on the standard PS5.

Furthermore, the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge could simply mean higher definition or frame rate than the base versions of the PS5. With such a label, it would be much easier to identify at first glance which games have really been optimized for this Pro version.

Although not confirmed, these strict criteria for the PS5 Pro Enhanced align with the significant performance increases announced for the system itself. Leaks report improvements such as45% faster rendering4 times more efficient ray tracing or even much faster memory.
