Improvement in American household morale in February


February 16 (Reuters) – American household morale has improved slightly since the start of February, the first results of the monthly survey from the University of Michigan showed on Friday.

Its confidence index stood at 79.6 compared to 80 expected by economists polled by Reuters and 79.0 in January.

The component of consumers’ judgment on their current situation rose to 81.5, after 81.9 and that of prospects to 78.4 against 77.1 in January.

One-year inflation expectations stood at 3.0% compared to 2.9% in January, while those over a five-year horizon remained stable at 2.9%. (Written by Corentin Chappron, edited by Jean-Stéphane Brosse)
