Like every year, Google publishes its report on its (active) fight against spam.

Indeed, to help Internet users find information on the Web, the Mountain View firm is constantly responsible for keeping spam and malicious content away from its search results.

Google continues its war against spam with SpamBrain

Google has always tracked malicious websites and other forms of spam that may appear in its search results. In 2018, the American giant launched its new SpamBrain tool, which is constantly optimized to flush out malicious sites.

In 2021, we detected 200 times more spam sites than when we started nearly two decades ago, thanks in part to our AI-based spam prevention system called SpamBrain “, explains the American giant.

In 2021, the SpamBrain tool enabled Google to identify approximately six times more spam than in 2020. According to the statements of the American group, faced with the growing volume of spam produced each day, SpamBrain’s ability to identify the behavior harmful and malicious among billions of pages would have kept more than 99% of searches without the slightest spam.

Google explains that it has also worked against actions aimed at grabbing places in the search engine’s ranking. It thus aims to reduce the number of poor quality content by combating manipulation of the ranking of certain sites which could degrade the user experience. The firm takes the example of product reviews in particular, the content of which often consisted of rewritten product descriptions, and not authentic and concrete opinions.

Remember that in 2019, Google announced that it discovered no less than 25 billion pages every day considered to be ” Spam “. These are immediately dereferenced by the search engine and removed from the results.
