No, it’s not crazy, bloodthirsty robots that attack Elon Musk’s employees in his Tesla factories, but machines. Two years later, the car manufacturer is dragging an incident like a ball and chain.
For Tesla, this is undoubtedly the kind of event that we don’t want the general public to take notice of. However, two years later, the company sees the recurrence of the accident suffered by one of its engineers within the gigafactory in Austin, Texas, in 2021. Plagued by a malfunction, a robot (which is not humanoid , useful clarification) attacked the employee, leaving behind a trail of blood. This incident would be far from the only one in Tesla factories.
The engineer couldn’t get rid of the Tesla machine
THE Daily Mail, a somewhat sensationalist British media outlet, managed to obtain the injury report drawn up following the incident, and transmitted to the Texan authorities. According to the text, the machine in question malfunctioned while the engineer was programming software for disabled robots. Clearly, when it’s not Tesla cars that are the problem, it’s the factories!
It was then that the employee was “attacked” by the machine which dug its metal claws into his arm and back, also causing an open wound to the individual’s left hand. The incident is today reinforced by the testimony of two other people, present on the scene, who agreed to speak to our colleagues about The Information.
The witnesses explained that their colleague was trying to free himself from the crazy robot, before an emergency stop was activated, you know, the famous “red button”. By releasing the engineer, he fell, bleeding and obviously panicked.
Tesla allegedly hides serious incidents in its factories from the public
This is a case that highlights the challenges that Tesla factory workers face on a daily basis, with the need to strengthen safety measures to avoid such incidents in the future. Because Elon Musk’s Texan factory has a rate of serious accidents that exceeds that of the automobile industry.
According to The Information, nearly one in twenty-one workers at the Austin gigafactory were injured on the job last year. The median rate for a worker in the industry is one in thirty. For serious injuries, it is also catastrophic with one in twenty-six employees last year; compared to one in thirty-eight in other American automobile factories.
Lawyer Hannah Alexander, who represents some of the workers at the Tesla factory, tells us that the firm is trying to cover up certain serious incidents. She even explains that a death occurred on September 28, 2021 during the construction of the gigafactory. Beyond the incident that we report to you in the article, Tesla will undoubtedly have to answer for these accusations, and ensure that its employees work in less dangerous conditions in the future.
