Alstom is delighted with the new record achieved by the Coradia iLint. His hydrogen fuel cell train traveled 1,175 kilometers without refueling.

It must be said that by crossing Germany, from Lower Saxony to Bavaria via Hesse, Alstom, which became the first company to introduce hydrogen, confirms its status as a pioneer in the introduction hydrogen in rail transport.

A popular hydrogen train

The Coradia iLnt, a zero-emission train, produces the energy necessary for its propulsion thanks to its hydrogen fuel cell. Silent, as we said, it only emits water vapor and condensation. Several innovations characterize it, such as the storage of energy in batteries, the conversion into clean energy and the intelligent management of the driving force and the available energy.

This hydrogen passenger train, which can be used on non-electrified lines, can travel at speeds ranging from 80 to 120 km/h. It is even possible for him to wait for 140 km/h.

Alstom has already signed several major contracts around sustainable mobility. The company will supply 14 Coradia iLint trains to the German railway company LNVG (which serves Lower Saxony), and 27 trains for the Frankfurt region. In Italy, the company will manufacture six Coradia Stream hydrogen trains (which can run at up to 200 km/h) for Lombardy.
