Honor wants to break new ground and expand into two other product categories in addition to its smartphones. In an exclusive interview with CNBC at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, Honor CEO George Zhao revealed the company’s future plans. In addition to a smart ring, Honor plans to introduce a foldable-style smartphone called Honor Magic Flip.
AI is expected to play a major role in the new devices. In this context, Zhao points to the potential of artificial intelligence to revolutionize health-related applications. With the Smart Ring, the company wants to provide its users with actionable insights from AI-driven analyzes in the future.
Smart ring with AI-powered health monitoring
At MWC 2024, the company introduced AI-powered features such as eye tracking technology on the Honor Magic 6 Pro and a chatbot based on Meta’s Llama 2 AI model.
While Honor only talked about a smart ring in Barcelona, Samsung is already one step further. At the trade fair, the South Korean manufacturer showed its Galaxy Ring publicly for the first time.
